Errors in paging
Two of the works in v. 1 and most works in v. 2 have special title pages with varying imprints, some dated 1670
RBSC copy: "The life of the Right Honorable Francis Bacon" (v. 1, 17 p. before text) and "A brief discourse touching the office of the Lord Chancellor of England" (v. 2, 26 p. at end) wanting. Portrait to face general t.p. wanting; bound in its place is the 2d port. to be bound before the text of v. 1. "Dedication" ( p.) and "To the reader" ( p.) to be bound after general t.p. wrongly bound after table of contents to v. 1. Vol. 2, special t.p. to "The translation of certain psalms" bound before p. 15 instead of before p. 19. With two bookplates of the Earls of Derby (Edward Smith Stanley the 13th Earl, and Edward George Geoffrey Smith Stanley, the 14th Earl [Franks 27891]?). Ex libris James Spedding
